Praying

Urgent Prayer Requests

ARGENTINA
From the El Retorno addictions rehab center in Esquel, Gerd and Hanna Epting have much good news to share:
• Three patients in the center recently decided for a life with Jesus. Please pray for these new believers, that they will grow in the Lord.
• The province government will support the rehab work with a monthly amount at least through the end of the year. Please pray that this aid will be extended for next year as well.
• The Chaiten volcano is less active now; there is no more falling ash and life is returning to normal in the village. (03 July)

TAIWAN
During the summer months the Chungho church will conduct evangelical camps and vacation Bible schools for children and teens. Pray for a spiritual awakening among the participants. Pray also for good weather; typhoons are common this time of year. (03 July)

Arizona, U.S.A.
Herman and Lois Buehler report that leaders from the Island Fellowship in Phoenix have visited Micronesian groups in Denver, Colorado, and Spokane, Washington, in the past two months. They were invited to share what was going on in the Phoenix group and to encourage the start of similar fellowships. Pray for these Micronesian believers, that they can build a body of believers that
will grow in the Lord and serve Him. (03 July)

JAPAN
Taeko Nakayama leaves for a two-month ministry assignment in Japan. She requests prayer for open doors for ministry during this trip, with many opportunities to teach children and adults. (01 July)

U.S.A./GUAM
With regard to work and home issues, Stephanie Cooper can see the Lord clearing the way for her to depart for her work in Guam soon; however, there is still quite a bit to be done regarding support. Please pray that the Lord will bring everything together for her to begin her work at Pacific Islands Bible College this fall; her skills are greatly needed. (01 July)

CHUUK, MICRONESIA
Steve Bradley is grateful for the way the five-week Preaching Practicum course went at PIBC's teaching facility in Weno. Please uphold Steve as he returns to the U.S. in the next week, and as he reviews the assignments and evaluations over the summer. (01 July)

JAPAN
Thomas and Irene Beck – as well as all the members of the congregation in Minamino – thank you for your prayers regarding their need for a church home. A contract has been signed for the purchase of a house. It is roomy, is favorably located and the owner came down on the price by about $70,000. The congregation can begin renovations by the end of September! (25 June)

PALAU
Missionaries from Micronesia, several short term mission teams and Liebenzell Mission leaders from Germany and the U.S. are gathered for the annual Gospel Days celebration. Aside from commemorating the arrival of the first missionaries to Palau, there will be meetings on the ministry here. Harald Gorges writes, "Items for discussion will include the question of the future collaboration between the church and the mission. The church wishes for revival but is instead experiencing the opposite." Please uphold this gathering in prayer. (25 June)

KYRGYZSTAN
The government is in the process of preparing a religious law. Several denominations here are striving for consultations with government representatives and the embassy. We hope that small congregations will continue to be allowed to meet in the future. (25 June)

RUSSIA
Sibylle Tüngler has received her residency permit for Polevskoi and is now looking for an apartment. She is already holding women’s meetings. Ask the Lord to bless this work by opening hearts to the gospel; pray for good relationships that will encourage one another in the faith. (25 June)

ECUADOR
From Cotacachi Heiko and Simone Erndwein share that the parents of the church's pastor, Washington Pozo, are both struggling with cancer. “Both have a strong faith, but this is still a heavy blow for them." Please pray for their health and that they will remain firm in Christ, and for their family. (25 June)

BURUNDI
Following a year for language preparation in France, Stefan and Tanja Hoffmann begin their first term here. Ask the Lord for safe travels and a quick adjustment. Pray also for their children as they get settled. (25 June)

Oregon, U.S.A.
Tom and Debbie Dunn report that the English as a Second Language (ESL), which meets in their home, will continue through the summer. They average about twelve students each week. While Tom and two others teach, Debbie does a children's Bible story time with the kids. Pray that this, and the other ESL classes offered will open doors to share the Good News. (25 June)

ECUADOR
Kevin and Kathy Bruce request prayer for two Awa families in the village just south of Rio Verde. They lost school-age daughters who were apparently swept away while crossing a swollen river on the way home from school. Pray for the Awa believers and the missionaries as they bring comfort and the hope that only Jesus can give. (23 June)

PALAU
While Rob Watt travels during July, the English fellowship of the the Koror Evangelical Church will be in the hand of its ministry team; Rob asks that you pray for these men and women as they lead others in worship and the study of God's word. (23 June)

WESTERN ASIA
Quite often, opportunities to answer questions about the Bible and faith in Christ come at surprising moments and in unusual places. Please remember believers in this region and pray that they will always be prepared to give an answer for the hope within them. (23 June)

PAPUA NEW GUINEA
Please pray for Elisabeth Bredow, suffering with chills, fevers and exhaustion for about a week now. Two types of malaria have been diagnosed. The Bredows, along with other missionaries, are presently attending meetings and a missionary conference in the Goroka highlands. (18 June)

GERMANY/TAIWAN
Gabi Frey and her two children have arrived in Germany from Taiwan. They are preparing for their new ministry among Chinese university students in the Essen area. Daniel will be coming from Taiwan in a few days. They covet your prayers for a good adjustment. (18 June)

SPAIN
Theo and Carolin Hertler reported that the 10th anniversary of the Marbella congregation was "awesome! The whole congregation helped out with all the preparation and a total of about 150 people attended.” (18 June)

ZAMBIA
Jason and Kelly Zimpfer are happy to report that they have moved to a house near the Amano Christian School campus. This allows them to spend more time together as a couple; previously, Jason was busy in the dorms each evening, while Kelly teaches during the day. Jason will still help in the dorms one night a week, but will be more involved in the construction work for the new dining hall and gym. (18 June)

FRANCE
Missionaries report that there is still room for additional participants for the missions camp in St. Aubin from July 12–26. Please pray that more members will join the team and participate. (18 June)

JAPAN/BANGLADESH/ECUADOR
There are several short term ministry opportunities which urgently need to be filled.

• Because of a last-minute cancellation, we are urgently seeking a woman to lead the household and run the kitchen in our small student dormitory in Japan. This one-year term is scheduled to start at the end of August.
• We are looking for a tutor (male or female) for the Lüdemann children in Bangladesh for three-months beginning in September. Should be somewhat fluent in German.
• In Ecuador, Daniel and Dana Sick could use someone to handle homeschooling their two boys and to help around the house for nine months starting in September. A little Spanish would help – but it's not necessary.
Please ask the Lord to supply people for these needs; if you are interested or want more information, please contact Liebenzell USA using the "Request Info" or "Email US" links to the left. (18 June)

"In big and small things, God answers the prayers
of those who trust in Him."

— Hudson Taylor

Liebenzell has always been an organization anchored in prayer. The risen Lord asks His people to pray for open doors, for laborers, for boldness to witness, for the growth of His Church, and the maturity of its leaders.

Through this website, our publications, and missionary letters and emails, we hope that you receive specific requests and matters for prayer. But there are times and situations when this is not possible. In these cases, may we suggest using Paul’s example of prayer for the believers in Colosse . . .

For this reason, since the day we heard it, we have not ceased praying for you and asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of God's will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you may lead lives worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, as you bear fruit in every good work and as you grow in the knowledge of God. May you be made strong with all the strength that comes from his glorious power, and may you be prepared to endure everything with patience, while joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has enabled you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the light.
(Colossians 1:9-12)

only God is great, and we should trust Him fully."
