Asia

farmerEastern Asia

Liebenzell's roots are in its ministry in China. For over 50 years, Liebenzell missionaries labored to bring the Gospel to the people of this land.

Ministry to eastern Asia is still possible through prayer. The 1.29 billion people of China are influenced by Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism and Atheism. According to estimates, there are about 80 million believers in China. Remember outreach partners who live lives of quiet witness, proclaiming salvation through their actions.

Prayer Requests:
     • Pray for persecuted believers; ask God for strength and encouragement for those in prison and their families
     • Church ministry is possible within a defined framework. Pressure on house churches has increased greatly in some regions. Churches lack Bibles and Christian literature, which allows false teachings to spread more easily
     • Revival in past years took place mainly among the poor, in rural areas. Pray for revival among the 350 million people in urban settings
     • Revival among young people; youth ministry is not permitted
     • The "Southern Gate" Church in Changsha is growing rapidly. Pray for the training of lay workers to take some burden from the pastors.
     • For the local Bible college in Changsha and for the leadership of the Hunan Church Association
     • Pray for Christian outreach partners who hold forth the Word of life in sensitive areas.

     • For more justice and wisdom for government leaders in the battle against unemployment, corruption and crime

Ministry Opportunities:
There are opportunities to serve in Asia as community development professionals. In most cases, a professional degree or certification in area of expertise is required in order to obtain a visa.

Western Asia

Typical market in western asiaWhile eastern Asia is influenced by Eastern mysticism and religious thought, western Asia is firmly under the grip of Islam. The cradle lands of the early church count only minute populations of Christians, many of them persecuted for their faith. Active ministry by expatriates is either forbidden or strongly discouraged.

Prayer Requests:
     • Perseverance and steadfastness by Christians in the face of sometimes intense discrimination and persecution
     • Trained church leaders are needed to encourage and strengthen small groups of believers
     • Pray for Christian outreach partners who hold forth the Word of life in sensitive areas.
